At first glance, these small metal objects attached to a piece of wood and a long string give the appearance of a spinning top or other hand toy. Despite the look, Steel Plumb is an extremely important tool in civil construction, and its use in construction is considered essential, if not mandatory.

For those who don't know, Prumo's main function is to check if the elements of a work are vertically aligned. Thus, this tool allows the construction worker to identify the points in his work that are "in the plumb", that is, that are stabilized and vertical as they should.

The Wall Plum , or Face Plummet, is the model whose steel part is cylindrically shaped, attached to a 2m nylon wire and with a guide shim (or putter) of wood. As its name implies, it is used to identify the verticality of the masonry walls of your work, thus avoiding unwanted inclinations. In practice, the worker places the wooden wedge against the wall and checks to see if the metal cylinder is tangent to it. If the cylinder is far away or against the wall, adjustments must be made to the work.

Already the Center Plum is that model whose metal part is like a spinning top, and also has 2m nylon thread and wooden guide pad. This model is ideal for the construction worker to identify the vertical line from any point. In practice, the worker compares two vertical planes across the tip of the spinning top: the base will be straightened when the metal tip is aligned with the stretched wire.
